Whilst reading one of the Chronicle’s latest pieces on Rafa’s search for new signings, I came across a very interesting line – with Chris Waugh revealing how the Spaniard has now contacted PSG, Inter Milan and Roma over some potential loan signings for NUFC.
With Benitez admitting earlier this week that he’s being forced to ‘wheel and deal’ in the transfer market, it sounds like he’s now making the most of his vast contact in the game and look far and wide for new signings – and I don’t blame him.
Whether he has much success is a different matter entirely, but it’s interesting to hear that he’s been in touch with this trio of European giants. Although you suspect the players he’s looking at from each will very much be squad players who are surplus to requirements.
Here’s a snippet from the Chronicle’s latest piece on his search for new signings after a frustrating summer so far:
“Given Newcastle’s lack of funds, Benitez knew the Magpies needed to act quickly in order to sign his top targets. Instead, he has been forced to move on to options further down the list.
“The Spaniard has spoken with clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Roma about signing players on loan, yet the Magpies have been unable to complete any of those deals.”
‘The Magpies have been unable to complete any of those deals’ – a familiar line that sums up our summer so far, however it’s good to see Rafa is trying his best a potential rabbit out of the hat.
Any ideas who he might be pursuing from these three clubs?
