Liverpool tell NUFC how much they’ll have to pay to sign Divock Origi or Danny Ings – Report

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool will demand £27m for Divock Origi and £20m for Danny Ings – two strikers who are believed to have been on Rafa Benitez’s radar this summer.

No wonder we’re preferring loan deals if this is the price set for both!

Origi is a talented player, however he’s far from the finished product and not a player we could rely on, whilst Danny Ings has barely been able to stay fit over the last three seasons.

Here’s a snippet from James Pearce’s latest piece for the Liverpool Echo (Merseyside’s version of The Chronicle), confirming that Klopp will cash in on both strikers – but not on the cheap:

‘Liverpool have placed a £27million price tag on Divock Origi as Jurgen Klopp looks to trim his squad ahead of the new season.

‘The Reds are open to offers for Origi, who has struggled to impress since returning from a loan spell at Wolfsburg.

‘The Reds will demand £20million for the former Burnley frontman, who is being pursued by Southampton, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Newcastle United.

‘Klopp doesn’t want to lose Ings but understands his reasons for wanting to seek a new challenge.

I think we can safely say that neither will be arriving at Newcastle United if loan deals are not an option!

Origi seems to be the one out of the two who Benitez is more likely to pursue – with Lee Ryder confirming that we were ‘in with a shout’ of signing him on a temporary deal this summer – however it looks like they’ll cash in if the right offer arrives.

That being said, I can’t see anyone paying £27m..
