VIDEO: Newcastle announce Muto signing – Watch amusing unveiling video here

After being granted his work permit at a hearing today, Newcastle have now officially announced the signing of Japanese international Yoshinori Muto – with the striker completing his £9.5m move from Mainz and signing an ‘initial’ four-year deal.

Here’s video confirmation from the club in the last few moments, featuring the man himself speaking after making the move official this afternoon – making reference to our ‘crazy, passionate supporters!’ and his plan to bring ‘joy to Geordies!’:

“I am very happy to be a player for Newcastle United. I am really looking forward to playing in front of the fans.

“As the first Japanese Newcastle United player, I am honoured to be a player for such a big club. I hope to achieve good results – that is what I am here to do. I would like to perform well and leave my name in Newcastle’s history.”

The striker featured for Japan during this summer’s World Cup and has played his football in Germany over the previous three seasons, scoring 20 goal in 66 games for Mainz 05.
