According to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Rafa Benitez has made a move to sign PSG left-back Stanley N’Soki – with the club now in talks over a potential £7m deal for the France U-20 international.
The 19-year old left-back has only actually made one appearance for the French giants – featuring once in Ligue 1 – however he’s been capped at every international level from U-16 to U-20 and tracked by Arsenal in the past.
Here’s confirmation of our interest from Sky’s in the last few moments:
Understand Rafa Benitez wants to bring in PSG’s French U20 left-back Stanley N’Soki – and talks have taken place. He’d cost Newcastle around £7m. However as Benitez admitted in Portugal last night, he has “no idea” if any transfers are close.

‘Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez wants to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Stanley N’Soki, according to Sky sources.
‘Sky Sports News understands talks have taken place between the two clubs, however Benitez admitted on Wednesday night he has “no idea” if any transfers are close.
‘The 19-year-old full-back would cost Newcastle in the region of £7m. N’Soki has only made one senior appearance for PSG, but has been involved in their pre-season matches this summer.’
The only thing I don’t quite get there is why we’d pay £7m for a 19-year old, but not Ajax’s alleged £8m asking price for full Argentine international Nicolas Tagliafico..
Who knows what we can actually afford or who Rafa prefers- with Bristol City’s Joe Bryan having also been linked. Either way, let’s just hope a deal can be done for one of these.
With Paul Dummett being our ONLY senior left-back at present, this is an area that definitely needs strengthening.
Here’s a snippet of N’Soki in action:
I just don’t understand the logic , full Argentine international for 8m or a 19 year old rookie for 7m , mind you I would rather have Bryan from Bristol city and he’s English for 6m and class that would be my choice . It’s a disgrace a club the size of nufc has not had a left back for years , remember Paul Dummet ( who’s done fine job) is a central defender and moved to left back to help us out. Screw your fat bobbin mike sign Bryan and if we have a centre half crisis move dummett across !!
