Rafa Benitez has admitted he is ‘delighted’ to have finally signed Salomon Rondon, saying that the powerful Venezuelan will give us the ‘experience’ we’ve lacked in the striking department.
With a deal for Rondon first mentioned by The Mail over 6 weeks ago, it seems Rafa has been pursuing a deal for the West Brom striker for a long time now – but today he has finally got his man (albeit on loan!).
Here’s what Rafa’s had to say since his arrival was confirmed by the club:
“I am delighted to sign Salomón.
“When we were looking for options up front, we knew how important experience would be. Salomón has been in the Premier League for a while and he knows how demanding it is.
“He, together with Yoshinori Mutō, will give us different options and will improve the competition between the strikers, which is always positive for the team.”
Finally a signing close to the top of Rafa’s wish-list? It sounds that way – although this can only be the start of our transfer business this week.
A left-back, centre-back and number 10 is still needed.
Its not experience we want, its someone who can score goals consistently, don’t think this is what we’ve gotten though. Can feel a competition coming on, – how many games will he play before our fans start offering to drive him back to Birmingham ?
