Salomon Rondon sends brilliant message to NUFC fans after sealing move from West Brom

Salomon Rondon has given his first interview as a Newcastle United player after sealing a move from West Brom, stating he is excited to be given such a ‘big opportunity’ and is ready to ‘make history’ with the club after being handed the famous number 9 shirt.

Rondon admits that the both Newcastle and West Brom had been talking for a ‘long time’ over the potential transfer, however a deal has finally been struck in the last few days, seeing him join on loan and Dwight Gayle go the other way.

Here’s what the big Venezuelan has posted on social media since making the move, as well as his words from his first interview with NUFC TV:

“I am very passionate and happy to be here. I can’t wait to get started and meet my new team-mates now.

“The clubs were talking for a long time but now it is done I can focus on the season. I want to help my team-mates to do well and get the points this season. I’m just happy to be here.

“It’s a big opportunity for me to come here. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. The manager too, I understand his targets and was happy to come and play for him.”

“It is a great pleasure for me to wear the number nine because I know its history in this club.

“A lot of star strikers played here like Alan Shearer and (Tino) Asprilla. You just say the name Shearer and everyone knows who he is, how good he was and how much he did for this club. And Asprilla is a South American player – he’s Colombian – so we know a lot of the South American players over there.

“I am Venezuelan and I am now here and I want to make history with this club.

“For me, I am a striker and so my mentality is that I always have to play with the number nine. “

Good luck Salomon!
