According to The Mirror, West Ham are now ‘very close’ to completing the signing of Lucas Perez for just £4m – the Arsenal striker Rafa Benitez admitted he ‘liked’ as he pushed to bring to Newcastle United just 12 months ago.
The 29-year old attacker spent last season with Deportivo La Coruna – opting for a return to Spain over a loan move to St James’ Park – but he’s now back at Arsenal and looks set to be sold on the cheap.
He bagged 9 goals and 8 assists during Deportivo’s relegation season last year and many Arsenal fans are keen to see him given a proper chance under new boss Unai Emery, however it seems like they’re all set to cash in for just £4m.
Benitez confirmed that he ‘liked the player’ last summer and was quoted a price in excess of £10m back then, so it would seem like a huge chance missed if we didn’t go back in for him at £4m given our limited budget and desperate need for fresh attacking talent?
It sounds like we’ll have to be quick if we’re to go back in for him, however, with Sky confirming West Ham’s interest and The Mirror’s Matty Lawless now claiming that that his move to the London Stadium is now ‘very close’:
Lucas Perez to West Ham, very close I'm told. £4m. I think that would be another good signinghttps://t.co/m4VNrMUr32

He’s experienced, is clearly a player Benitez likes, he can play both up top and in the number 10 role and he’s available on the cheap – being one of few quality attackers our ‘limited budget’ may allow.
I imagine West Ham are prepared to offer bigger wages, but, all things considered, surely this is a deal we should be all over?
