Good news – NUFC have now ‘sanctioned’ deals for left-back and centre-back – Report

Time is ticking, with just over 24 hours left until the window slams shut, however The Chronicle have provided a positive transfer update this afternoon – stating that the club have now ‘sanctioned’ deals for TWO defenders over the last 48 hours.

Lee Ryder has confirmed that the club are ‘confident’ of getting ‘two defensive deals done’, suggesting Benitez may have a thing or two lined up to ensure both a left-back and centre-back signs.

Time will tell, but this comes as a reassuring update – especially when we’ve often been told the club are ‘closed for business’ at this late stage of the window.

Here’s a snippet from The Chronicle’s latest transfer piece:

‘Newcastle United remain confident of getting two defensive deals done in time for tomorrow’s summer deadline.

‘The Magpies are hopeful of bringing in a centre-back and left-back to bolster Rafa Benitez squad.

‘Newcastle are hoping that they get their work done early on deadline day after Benitez had deals sanctioned in the last 48 hours.

‘Benitez got the green light after one last plea for recruitment following the 1-0 defeat against Augsburg.’

On the left-back front, it seems a deal for Stanley N’Soki is looking increasingly unlikely, however – with Lee Ryder suggesting here that Benitez may now be looking at other options due to PSG demanding payments up front:

‘Since the weekend, Benitez has had to rethink some of his options with targets and cash restrictions blighting his plans.

‘Hopes are fading that United can afford the package to bring PSG’s Stanley N’Soki with the French giants demanding payments up front.

‘Alternatives have been sought though and Benitez will be hoping he finishes the window in a mood that would only be described as satisfactory after a host of missed opportunities this summer.’

Fingers crossed folks!
