According to The Sun’s Mike McGrath, Newcastle are now interested in a deal to sign Crystal Palace’s Jason Puncheon – a potential move which will do little to excite NUFC fans on deadline day.
The 32-year old may be seen as a someone who could give us another option both in the number 10 role and out wide, however it would be a real bargain basement buy for Benitez – highlighting just how little he must have to spend if true.
Here’s what The Sun reporter has had to say on our interest in their live transfer blog today:
“Jason Puncheon could leave Crystal Palace today, with Middlesbrough and Newcastle interested in the winger.
“But any deal will depend on where Yannick Bolasie goes from Everton.”
To say this is uninspiring is an understatement.
He’s versatile and experienced, having racked up almost 200 Premier League appearances, however he made just 10 appearances in the league last season – failing to contribute a single goal or assist.
Club should just come out and say they are done for the day instead of torturing the fans. Can’t understand why so much energy has been wasted on a 4th/5th choice CB in Marlon. We are so short in other area’s its scary. Dummet and Yedlin are very very poor full backs. When shelvey is out injured we cant string 2 passes together in midfield, and we all saw how effective Joselu is at putting the ball in the net. Its worrying worrying times.
