With the big kick off just hours away, here’s FIVE players I’m tipping to have massive seasons ahead of yet another year in the Premier League.
Here’s the players I’m expecting big things from and why:
Kenedy – It looked at one stage that wouldn’t be getting him back and it was a huge plus point if the transfer window the re sign him. A huge talent who will only get better and still young. You would think now he has a better player to link up with in Solomon Rondon, and could form a great partnership with the Venezuelan .
Salomon Rondon – Hasn’t quite set the world alight in the Premier League so far , although it could be argued that playing under managers Pulis and Pardew could have a lot to do with that. Rafa will no doubt get the best out of him . He fits into our 4-2-3-1 system really well and will work well with Kennedy and Ritchie providing crosses from out wide.
Jonjo Shelvey – Many feel he should’ve been in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad and will be keen to prove that this season. One of our best players last season and looks physically better than ever. Works well with Mo Diame and has played along side Ki at Swansea so they will have an understanding. Massive season for him.
Martin Dubravka – Looked a class act last season and has carried that on throughout pre season. Looks at absolute bargain and someone that could be our number one for years if he carries on as he started.
Ayoze Perez – Arguably his best season for us last season, which he ended top scorer. Will always struggle physically but what he lacks physically he makes up for in effort, attitude and technical ability. Will only get better linking up with a better player in Rondon, looked a little frustrated working with Joselu last season at times.
Who are you tipping to do well?
I think you’re spot on with your prediction – the sad thing is that we kick off the season with last seasons team and nobody new on the pitch.
Assuming Rafa won’t make a substitution until the traditional 60 minute mark whoever comes on only gets 30 minutes to make an impact.
Based on Joselu’s appalling performances we should be straight in with Rondon who will be so eager to make an impression, with a cameo later from Muto.
