Don’t get me wrong folks, today was a VERY tough watch and 96 minutes of our lives we aren’t getting back anytime soon, but I think a few things need to be said..
This time last season we followed an opening day defeat to Spurs with a 1-0 defeat at Huddersfield. This season we were MUCH better in defeat to Spurs and today we’ve got a point.
Did we look good? No, we were horrific, but the signs were worse last season, yet we ended up finishing 10th after an even worse start. Benitez will soon sort us out – It’s what he’s done expertly over the last three seasons after a ropey start.
It’s also worth remembering that we still have Rondon, Muto, Ki, Fernandez and Schar to come – so let’s just forget about this one and judge in a few weeks before the doom and gloom gets out of hand?
Secondly, let’s get behind Kenedy – not bury him even further after a day to forget for him personally.
He’s had a nightmare today and has let us down, but let’s not overreact.
He was a major reason why we finished so strongly last season, he’s one of the few players in this team that gives us some flair and excitement, but he’s still young and still learning – so these things will happen.
Hopefully he’ll learn from it and come back stronger after his seemingly inevitable ban.
A frustrating day, but let’s keep the faith.
