According to an exclusive from the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie were involved in a ‘furious’ training ground bust-up last week – however The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder claims that this is a ‘day-to-day occuregce’ and something that has been blown out of proportion.
Here’s a snippet from Craig’s ‘exclusive’ last night, with the north east reporter claiming that the pair were ‘dragged apart’ by other players after a training pitch argument got out of hand in the dressing room:
“Ritchie, it is said, had taken issue with Lascelles on the training pitch towards the end of last week after the skipper voiced his disapproval over Rafa Benitez’s decision to play with a five-man defence for Sunday’s visit of Chelsea.
“A source told us: ‘Ritchie was basically saying, “Just get on with it, even if you don’t like it, it’s the manager’s choice”. They had a row on the pitch but it wasn’t finished there. It all flared up again and Lascelles went for Ritchie in the changing-room.”
As you can see below, Lee Ryder has moved quickly to play down these claims this morning, stating that the heated conversation between the pair was a ‘healthy one’ and that there’s no problems at all between Lascelles and Ritchie – something that Craig Hope totally dismissed in response:
Where do you stand on this folks?
Is this a cause for concern or do you believe this really is a day-to-day occurrence out on the training pitch?
