Nolberto Solano tips surprise player to become ‘key’ for NUFC – & it’s not who you may expect..

Former Newcastle United winger Nolberto Solano is tipping Jacob Murphy to become a ‘key player’ for Newcastle United – believing the 23-year-old has the ‘pace’ and ‘potential’ to become a star at St James’ Park.

Considering Murphy is the most expensive player we’ve signed since we sealed promotion back to the Premier league in the summer of 2017, it’s fair to say he’s struggled to make an impact so far – however Solano has backed him to succeed ‘if he puts his mind to it’.

Heres’ what the Peruvian has had to say when speaking in his weekly column for The Chronicle:

“For me Jacob Murphy could be a key player for United if he puts his mind to it. He’s got the pace and the potential, believe me.

“There were a couple of situations on Saturday where he just needed to look up and see what the options were. But he’ll get better because he’s got a good attitude.”

He’s still very young and has showed some signs of improvement following some ‘rabbit in the headlights’ performances early on in his Newcastle career, but I think the majority of fans would be surprised if you told them he’ll soon be a ‘key player’ in this side.

That being said, a lack of regular game time has limited his development so far, so maybe he can be one of the main beneficiaries if Kenedy continues to struggle.

He still looks raw and has a lot to learn, but Solano seems adamant that he has the pace, potential and ‘good attitude’ needed to make it.
