Former Newcastle United striker Les Ferdinand says he can ‘guarantee’ that there IS people interested in buying Newcastle – also feeling certain Mike Ashley does want to sell – believing his asking price is the only thing holding up a potential takeover.
Many fans are very dubious when it comes to the takeover, but it seems Les is quite confident that there is both interest and a wish to sell from Ashley’s part.
The problem – as always when it comes to Ashley – is the price. It emerged recently that he may now be ready to reduce his demands, but to say most of us fans are dubious is an understatement.
Here’s what Ferdinand has had to say about the matter, claiming that there are definitely parties keen to buy the club:
“There’s been a situation for a long time at the club.
“It’s got to the situation where it’s untenable.
“He wants to sell the club and while he wants to sell, he doesn’t want to pump any more money into it.
“When you say there’s nobody out there maybe there’s nobody out there that wants to pay the money he wants to sell it for.
“I guarantee you there are people that want to buy the club but don’t value it at the same price as Mike Ashley.
“From a supporter’s point of view, it’s extremely frustrating.”
Do you agree with him?
Do you believe that Ashley does want to sell? And given the silence since Amanda Staveley’s failed bids, do you believe there are other groups keen to take over?
