Paul Merson is predicting us to get our first win of the season this weekend, tipping us to beat Leicester 1-0 in Saturday’s crucial clash at St James’ Park – a game he’s described as a must win for Newcastle United.
Not only would it be our first three points of the new season, this is the first time Merson has tipped us to get a win this season – with him going for defeats against Spurs, Chelsea, City, Arsenal and Palace and a draw away to Cardiff so far.
Surprisingly. he’s not been far wrong so far (with him going for a Palace win being the only time he’s got it wrong), so let’s hope that trend continues!

“Newcastle have got to win. They had a good result going to Crystal Palace and drawing 0-0 but Leicester are like a bag of Revels, you never know what you’re going to get. One week, they’re well beaten and Bournemouth then the next, they win at home.
“I’m going to go for a Newcastle home win.”
Prediction: Newcastle 1-0 Leicester
He said just yesterday that we do well to create one clear cut chance per game, so he must be expecting us to take ours on Saturday!
