NUFC linked with January move for in-form attacker – Has 5 goals in 7 games this season

According to Calciomercato, Newcastle are showing interest in Bordeaux star Francois Kamano ahead of the January transfer window – with the winger enjoying an outstanding start to the new season in France.

The Guinean international has been one of the standout players in Ligue 1 so far this year, scoring 5 goals in their opening 7 league games – also bagging 2 goals and 2 assists in the Europa League qualifiers.

Whilst his early season form has been impressive, this stinks of the sort of deal Mike Ashley will try and pull off on the cheap in a bid to make quick profit.

He’s young, he’s showing promise and he’s likely to be in our price range (rated at £7m by Transfermarkt), but is this really a player who has the experience and pedigree to come into a struggling team and take the bull by the horns? It’d be a big risk.

Calciomercato claim that Brighton and Fulham are also keen, so I can’t say I’d expect us to win that potential bidding war if this all proves to be true.
