Journalist shares big injury update on Rondon, Muto, Kenedy & Dummett ahead of Brighton game

The Chronicle’s Chris Waugh has provided an update on the fitness of several Newcastle United first teamer’s ahead of Saturday’s game with Brighton, confirming that Muto, Kenedy and Dummett are ALL expected to be fit after recent injuries.

The injury update on Salomon Rondon is slightly more mixed, however, with the Venezuelan expected to return to the squad but NOT the starting line-up.

Here’s the verdict on all four from Waugh’s latest injury update in The Chronicle:

Salomon Rondon – “Should be in the squad, but might not be deemed fit enough to start”

Paul Dummett – “Back in training and is expected to be fit to return for the Magpies against Brighton.”

Yoshinori Muto“Was forced off in the 78th minute after suffering a slight knock, and he has been assessed by Newcastle’s medical staff during the international break. Muto was not selected for the Japan squad and has instead been recovering on Tyneside – and he should be in contention for his first Premier League start at St James’ Park on Saturday.”

Kenedy – “The winger’s injury (picked up at Old Trafford) is not believed to be serious, and he should be available this weekend.”

So, we could see Dummett back in at left-back, Muto up top once again, Kenedy continuing out wide and Rondon back in the squad and available to make an impact from the bench.

The piece states that Ciaran Clark ‘Needs to be assessed’ and is now a ‘severe doubt’ for the game after pulling out of Ireland’s game with Wales through injury, however this is not a major concern with Lascelles and Fernandez expected to start regardless.
