Some interesting footage has emerged from St James’ Park following Saturday’s game with Brighton, showing ex-NUFC chairman Chris Mort in the stands.
Considering Chris Mort acted on behalf of Amanda Staveley in her takeover negotiations last season, his re-appearance on Tyneside is intriguing to say the least.
He was not sat with Ashley, however several NUFC fans have questioned just whether there could be some significance behind his appearance – with him not being from the area and him not being a fan suggesting that he could only be here for business.
Chris Mort at the game today….any idea why @MsiDouglas @lee_ryder #nufc

Chris Mort in the stands today sitting away from Ashley has to be significant. Its not like he is a regular, nor is the club local to him, he basically had no business being there unless it was business he was there for? ? #nufc

One thing that was interesting for #NUFC was the reappearance of Chris Mort.
On my show with @geordiedentist we always liked Chris and hopefully it can be linked with change of the owner.— Andrew Davis (@andrew14ad) October 20, 2018
The lawyer acted as chairman in Ashley’s first season at the club, however he was replaced by Derek Llambias.
Mort now works at Freshfields – the firm that represented Amanda Staveley during her takeover pursuit of NUFC – and it was confirmed that he was NOT sitting next to Ashley and his camp during the game.
Lee Ryder has suggested that it was ‘a day out at his old club’, but quite a few aren’t convinced..
Probably just come back to see how much the club has went down even further since he left.Chris Mort had a good relationship with the fans,he listened and at least put some effort in to help the club.

Chris Mort has an executive box.

I recall Ashley getting annoyed at the publicity stunt the last time which put him off Amanda Staveley. He insists on a private sale to be done out of sight of media. So what happens, media take over the show yet again making 2+2 = 5. Let it be for gods sake.

Totally sick of all this ***** there’s one thing certain we will be playing Sunderland next season with the same owner and boro will be in the prem . Total lack of investment has resulted in no left back since as long as I can remember , dummett is a centre half !! That says it all for me , shockingly clueless

Sick of all this bull ***t about no one buying us when we are possibly going to get relegated.
Did the immensely rich Fosun Group worry about buying Wolves when they were in the Championship? No – they went and bought the club and progressed (successfully) from there.
We are STILL in the Premiership and it’s early days. A takeover followed by a good spend in January for Rafa would see us through this season. The real reason no one will buy us is because of one bloody greedy individual.

I don’t he came for the syntilating football nufc have been playing at home that’s for sure. I wonder has any of Ashley yes men have the balls to tell him the truth about what he has done to club? his 400million price tag looks a right good joke now. I’d suggest even Keith Bishop will struggle to put a good spin on this current situation

Taken4mugs – Wolves were bought for 45 million – not 400.
Bit of a difference.
