Journalist reveals what top NUFC talent has now been told ahead of possible first team call-up

According to The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder, in-form NUFC youngster Elias Sorensen has been told he is NOT ready for a first team call-up – despite scoring a stunning 12 goals for the U-23’s so far this season.

The 19-year-old Dane has netted two hat-tricks over the last month and is currently the top scorer in the Premier League 2, however it seems Rafa does not feel he’s ready despite several NUFC fans calling for him to be given a shot.

Here’s what Lee Ryder’s had to say about the striker, confirming that he’s been told to ‘wait for his chance’ as far as a first team call up is concerned:

“Newcastle United striker Elias Sorensen has been told to wait for his big chance to impress in the first team.

“The Danish youngster is in a rich vein of form at the moment and will be in action again tomorrow night at St James’ Park for Tyne-Tees derby clash with Middlesbrough.

“Despite, Newcastle’s lack of first team goals, however, he isn’t close to getting a shock Premier League debut.”

It’s easy for us to say ‘throw him in’ or ‘he couldn’t do any worse’ etc., but with Rondon edging closer to a first-team return, Muto showing some promising signs and Joselu someone Rafa still uses (no matter how much you don’t rate him, it always seemed a long shot.

A loan move in January may not be the worst idea or a few cameos in the FA Cup, however it’s probably best he just keeps doing what he’s doing in the U-23’s for now.

As good as he’s looked recently, we could ruin such a young player by throwing him in the lions den so soon.
