Incredible stats emerge from NUFC’s 11 games so far this season – This really is shocking

A worrying stat has emerged from The Chronicle’s Mark Douglas today, revealing how we’ve been ahead for just 66 minutes of our 11 games in all competitions this season – with us scoring just two goals in our last five games.

We all know how much of a struggle it’s been to watch us in the first few months of the new season, but these stats just emphasise how much we’re struggling to score and win a game as a result.

Aside from our spell where we were ahead at Old Trafford a few weeks ago, we are yet to be in a winning position this season. Not only that, the goals scored by Kenedy and Muto in that game are the only goals we’ve scored in our last FIVE games.

Many talked about our hard start to the season, using that as somewhat of an excuse for our slow start, but we have now failed to score against Cardiff, Palace, Leicester, Brighton or Southampton – with our only points coming in 0-0 draws away from home.

The clean sheet on Saturday was one positive to take, but we won’t win games if we don’t score goals.

Let’s hope Rondon can get himself fully fit and firing – with the pressure also on the likes of Kenedy, Ritchie, Perez and Shelvey to chip in with goals and assists too.

  1. You wont score if you don’t get out your own half either, that’s the problem, Benitz is stifling the players with his negative tactics of parking the bus. We have decent kids chomping at the bit to get in the team but they constantly get overlooked by our (supposed) world class manager. The same players get picked every week. The tactics or (should that be lack of) are the same, – let teams come at and try and catch them on the break, – our players are so knackered defending that they would need a motor bike to get up the pitch. Fans cry we haven’t got the players to attack teams, how the hell do we know when the team is never encouraged to show it. Every game you can see the players getting more and more frustrated so much so that they stop trying and disappear into their shells. To think I used to criticise Pardew for trying the same thing every week and expecting a different result, Benitz is worse – at least Pardew’s teams attacked. Throwing money at the problem won’t make it go away, both club and team management has to change, the right caliber of players need to be bought to fill crucial positions, (not that I would allow Benitz and Charnley to handle that cos we’d end up with another Centre Back). Mark Douglas’s stats above make shocking reading – no wonder we have 3 points from 30 and there is little evidence that this is about to change anytime soon. I am really fearful that the team I have supported for 50 years is about to disappear into the abyss.
