Paul Merson - "Newcastle fans won't be happy with this.."

Paul Merson is backing Watford to beat us 0-2 at St James' Park on Saturday - claiming that he can't even see where our next goal is coming from never mind our next win.

The pundit isn't the most popular figure with NUFC fans, however I think quite a few supporters will struggle to argue with this. After all, we've failed to score in 4 of our last 5 games, have lost all five home games this season and had 0 shots on target at Southampton last weekend.

Here's what he's had to say ahead of tomorrow's game during his prediction piece for Sky:

"Newcastle fans won't be happy with this, but I've got to go for Watford. At the moment I just can't see where Newcastle are winning a game or even scoring a goal.

"I think Watford are the most underrated team in the league, alongside Bournemouth; both very good. They're fast on the counter-attack, they're big and strong. Newcastle have to come out and try to beat somebody at some point, but I'm going 2-0 Watford."

Prediction - Newcastle 0-2 Watford

Given this is Watford's best ever start to a Premier League season, I don't blame anyone who fancies them to get one over on us once again this weekend.

They've got 19 points to our 2 so far this season and have bundles of pace, power and quality.

We've got our work cut out tomorrow, but fingers crossed we can dig deep and put in a big performance to earn that elusive first win of the season!
