Alan Shearer’s brilliant gesture to Leicester City after their heroic win at Cardiff – Pure class

After their incredible 1-0 win at Cardiff just days on from the tragic death of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, Alan Shearer has paid tribute to the Leicester City – including all 11 players and manager Claude Puel in his Premier League team of the week.

Big Al’s team of the week usually consists of a mixture of Premier League players who’ve impressed him over the game week, but this week he’s showed a real touch of class, including every player that started in Leicester’s courageous 1-0 win at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday.

Here’s what Shearer has posted to his personal Instagram account after paying tribute to Leicester City during his latest ‘team of the week’ selection for the Premier League’s official site:

“For my team of the week, I could have included Alvaro Morata after his brace against Crystal Palace or Granit Xhaka for his performance against Liverpool.

“And I would have loved to have chosen a Newcastle United player after their first win of the season.

“But this week I have to make an exception and select the entire Leicester City team.

“To play in such terrible circumstances and to then go on and get a win at Cardiff in tribute to their owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is worthy of my team of the week.

“The players and the football club deserve huge credit. Watching them, their solidarity and team spirit reminded me of their fairytale Premier League title win in 2015/16.”

The game took place less than a week after the Leicester City Chairman’s death was confirmed, and the fact they agreed to let it go ahead let alone go on and win it really was admirable.

A lovely touch from Shearer after such a tragic few weeks for Leicester and the entire footballing community.
