NUFC offered chance to sign Champions League playmaker for just £5m – Report

After stories emerged yesterday linking us with a January move for Yacine Brahimi, the Chronicle’s live blog have highlighted some reports from Portugal, stating that Porto playmaker will be available for just £5m after talks over a new contract broke down.

The 28-year old is one of the star men in the Porto team so you may be wondering how on earth he’d be sold for so little, however his current deal is due to expire next summer, meaning the Portuguese giants risk losing him on a free.

Brahimi has two goals and three assists in nine games so far this season and bagged and impressive 12 goal and 10 assists last season in the Portuguese league, with him being a player who’s regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent years.

There’s bound to be serious competition at such a low price – and reports are already suggesting that Everton and West Ham are also keen – however we really should be all over this.

With us in dire need of added quality in attacking midfield and Rafa Benitez likely to have another modest budget, Brahimi could be a real bargain.

That being said, there’ll be big clubs sniffing and big wages offered if Porto’s asking price is in fact that low – but this would be Ashley’s chance to make a marquee signing (even if it was on the cheap..).

  1. It could be 2 million transfer fee but he his wage demands aren’t small and his agent doesn’t want a fee maybe Ashley might consider a move him other than that forget it.
