The Daily Mail’s north-east reporter Craig Hope claims that Jonjo Shelvey has ‘no chance’ of making tomorrow’s game wBournemouth – all but confirming that Ki Sung-yueng will start in his place.
Shelvey limped off just five minutes into the second half against Watford last weekend, and yesterday’s training pictures showed that he took no part in training.
Rafa has confirmed that he and Yoshinori Muto have been receiving treatment, and although the latter may yet make tomorrow’s game with Bournemouth, it sounds like Shelvey is definitely out.
Here’s what Craig Hope’s just said in the last few moments:
“Hearing Jonjo Shelvey has no chance for tomorrow. A big loss, but at least Ki isn’t coming in cold from the stands & will do on back of good performance instead.

Fortunately, we have an international break coming up after tomorrow’s game, giving Shelvey over two weeks to recover ahead of our trip to Burnley two weeks on Monday.
It’s a concern, but we’ll be in safe hands if Ki can come in and play like he did against Watford..
I’m not sure how this is bad news
