As I browsed Twitter last night, I noticed a NUFC fan account asking fans to vote for our ‘best player so far this season’ – and the result was pretty unanimous, with Martin Dubravka and Federico Fernandez dominating
The pair featured so frequently that there was only ONE other player mentioned in all of the responses, with that being Benitez’s trusted left-back Paul Dummett.
I’m sure many would agree that Dubravka and Fernandez are worthy leaders for the player of the season award at this stage. The Slovakian has made several big saves and always been a safe pair of hands, whilst the Argentinian centre-back is already proving what an important deadline day buy he was, with him showing real class and composure at the back; being the consistent presence we desperately needed following Lejeune’s serious injury.
In your opinion, who has been #NUFC’s best player so far this season…? pic.twitter.com/BaKKNemN8U

Here’s some of the responses to the above question asked by @Total_NUFC:
‘Fernandez … ability and passion’
‘Dubravka. And anyone else who says otherwise has forgotten how many world class saves he makes EVERY game. Best keeper since given in his prime by country mile.’
‘Didn’t even think there was a debate over it. Anyone who doesn’t say Fernandez is wrong’
‘Dubravka for sure’
‘Too close to split them Fernandez and Dubravka.’
‘Come on really ? It’s Dubravka all day long!’
‘Fernandez by a mile!!!!!!!’
Who do you believe has been our standout player so far this season?
