Club set to make move for in-form NUFC striker in January – Report

As revealed by the Hartlepool Mail, in-form Newcastle United striker Elias Sorensen is now a January target for Hartlepool United, with the National League side keen to sign the 19-year-old on loan in the new year.

The Danish striker has been scoring for fun in the Premier League 2 for our U-23’s, bagging an incredible 15 goals already this season, so it’s likely the club will listen to loan offers in the new year to give him some valuable game time at senior level.

That being said, I would argue that he could earn himself a better move than Hartlepool. The key may be to move him to a club that will play him regularly, however his form this season suggests he should be playing at a higher level than the fifth tier of English football.

On that subject, the Hartlepool Mail claim that there is a several clubs keen to sign him in January – with Football League sides also set to compete with Hartlepool in the new year:

‘Hartlepool United are one of a host of clubs keeping tabs on Newcastle United youngster Elias Sorensen.

‘The 19-year-old Dane is thought to be available for loan in January, with United keen to see their young prospect get game time.

“And the Mail has learned that Sorensen is a player who is on Pools’ radar, with Matthew Bates still looking for National League reinforcements.

‘While the player is likely to leave St James’s Park in the winter window, Sorensen will not be short of suitors, with teams in the Football League also thought to be keen.’

He’s not the only promising NUFC youngster who could be loaned out in January.

The likes of Sean Longstaff and Callum Roberts have also looked a cut above the rest in U-23 action this season and England U-21 goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is in desperate need of regular first-team football.

Would you be happy if we loaned Sorensen out to Hartlepool for the second half of the season?
