Just months after he looked set to become a £30m flop, it seems Moussa Sissoko has suddenly become a fans favourite at Spurs – with the Frenchman’s turn around summed up by the post-match reaction to his man of the match display against Chelsea on Saturday.
Sissoko has struggled in the main since moving to Tottenham, which has been pretty enjoyable for Newcastle fans after his acrimonious departure.
Moussa always said ‘Arsenal was the club of his heart’ and he was too good to not play Champions League football; so the irony of him turning up to Arsenal’s rivals and barely making the bench in Europe’s top competition has been not lost on Toon fans.
Here’s what Tottenham fans are now saying about the ex-NUFC midfielder now though following his impressive performance in their 3-1 win over Chelsea over the weekend:
Who would have expected Moussa Sissoko of all people to be arguably one of the league's top 5 midfielders this season so far, bargain

The thing I've noticed about @MoussaSissoko When the other teams midfielders have been involved in a few tackles with him early on.They do their best to keep away.Beast??

Not even joking Moussa Sissoko should be considered when talking abt our POTS

I have been saying this since he joined. You don’t get 53, now 54 caps for France by being a bad player. Maybe if supporters had got behind him it wouldn’t have taken so long for him to show it.

Honestly didn't rate Sissoko when he came to Spurs. The lad has worked his **** off and it shows. He's becoming an integral part of this squad. Fair play @MoussaSissoko ??

@MoussaSissoko needs to be drug tested how is he playing this well??

I am just not sure how to deal with the fact that Moussa Sissoko might end up being the solution to our midfield problems. #COYS

Benitez clearly rated Sissoko, making him captain, as we nearly escaped relegation from the Premier League during the end of the 2015/6 season.
He was excellent against Chelsea at the weekend but his antics to move a move still leaves a bad taste on Tyneside and I can’t say he will ever be welcomed back to SJP.
We lack quality now but we fortunately don’t have the rotten characters like Sissoko on the books and long may that continue.
I know Rafa did a lot to try to keep him at the Toon…
with the rest of scratching out heads at £30m fee…
