Benitez drops clear hint when asked if a NUFC takeover is close – He’s not convinced, yet..

Rafa Benitez has insisted once again that it is still ‘business as usual’ at Newcastle United when asked about a potential takeover – stating that he does not see anything going through in the next few weeks.

This isn’t pouring cold water on takeover talk as such, but it is clear Ashley does not keep Benitez up to date on much at the club; which is no surprise given he doesn’t even get informed of a budget before a transfer window.

You can’t blame Benitez for focusing on football matters, we have to be at 100% to pick up any points considering the squad we have – and after 10 points out of the last 15, he will be keen to ensure events off the pitch don’t overshadow those on it like they did last year.

Here’s what the gaffer said after last night’s 1-1 draw at Everton – insisting that he’s unaware of any developments and doesn’t expect that to change in the coming weeks:

“No, I told you two days ago.

“And today is the same – it is business as usual.

“I don’t see any difference for us against Wolves or the next games.”

Given what happened this last year with PCP and the debacle as that fell apart, Benitez is likely to be as skeptical as the fans are at this stage.

We are also badly running out of time to get the deal done before the end of the calendar year too, which is key for potential investors so they can have an impact in the transfer market to ensure we stay up.

The Maggie Group have called off the planned protest of the Wolves game, to help back Rafa and the players while takeover talks continue. Let’s hope it helps us on the pitch at the weekend and we soon get the much needed good news we need off it too.
