Rafa Benitez has revealed that he now ‘knows where we are’ on the takeover front after speaking to Lee Charnley just ‘a few minutes’ before his press conference – however he has not heard from Ashley all week and insists it’s still ‘business as usual’ at NUFC.
Some may wonder just why he spoke to Charnley right before his presser if nothing was going on, but it is no surprise at all to hear Ashley has not been in contact.
Rafa also gave an emphatic response to rumours claiming we had an agreement in place to sign Miguel Almiron – suggesting we are yet to make any offer for the MLS star; but refusing to play down our interest.
Firstly, here’s what Rafa had to say on a takeover:
‘I spoke to Lee Charnley a few minutes ago..
“I know where we are and it’s business as usual.’

Benitez then said the following on Miguel Almiron after claims of an agreement following Steve Nickson’s trip to the US:
“I could hear somebody made an offer but we haven’t.”
“We knew someone was talking about us making an offer. As you know, we don’t talk about signings, and especially now that we have a massive game.”
“If we make an offer, they will know and we will know. “
So, there’s no real update on the takeover front, however silence on this matter could be sign that things are actually going on behind the scenes – with Kenyon and his team said to be assessing the club’s accounts as we speak.
As far as Almiron is concerned, we clearly hold serious interest in the Atlanta star, but whether we can strike a deal is another matter – with it seeming to me like it’ll take a takeover and big money to get our man.
Everyone want to know about the alleged take over , well RAFA answered it perfectly clearly when he said he had spoken to Charnley and RAFA SAID IT IS BUSINESS AS USUAL .
WHICH REALLY MEANS IT HAS ALL BEEN A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS , THERE IS NO TAKEOVER BID AND NEVER HAS BEEN .
IT HAS ALL BEEN HYPE BY THE LYING ARSEHOLE ASHLEY.
