Striker turns down NUFC offer – & club reporter reveals why he rejected it..

The Sun’s north-east reporter David Coverdale claims the club have now offered Elias Sorensen a new three-year deal – however the striker has failed to agree terms so far after rejecting our initial offer of £1,500 per week.

The 19-year old striker has scored 18 goals for the U-23’s so far this season and can’t be far off making a first team appearance if he carries on his rich vein of form.

BUT, according to the report, we haven’t agreed terms with the striker YET – with the striker apparently demanding £2,500 per week after rejecting our initial offer of a £1,500 weekly wage.

His contract expires at the end of the season, so we need to get a contract sorted sooner rather than later, with several sides likely to be sniffing around given his current run of form.

We have not had many players make it into the first team from our academy over the past few years, with Paul Dummett being the most recent , so it would be great to see the likes of Sorensen break through.

Let’s hope this gets sorted out ASAP!

  1. I don’t see the problem with offering him £3k a week and a five years deal. If he continues to progress as he is. At the end of his contract he would be 24 with the potential to command a substantial fee. That must tick all fat man’s boxes. After all Phil Foden has just bought a £2m house on his earnings and he is the same age.
