According to an exclusive from Football Insider, Leeds United are now in pole position to sign Karl Darlow after holding talks with his representatives over a potential January deal.
This is not the first time Leeds have been linked with a move for a Newcastle goalkeeper, with a loan deal for Woodman mentioned last week, however it now sounds like they’re pursuing a permanent deal for Darlow.
Leeds are currently in the middle of a goalkeeper crisis – with two senior keepers injured – and they appear to be very keen on Darlow, who has real Championship pedigree after being our number one for the majority of our promotion season in 2016/17.
Aston Villa are also thought to be interested , but Leeds seem to have the edge according to the latest reports.
Darlow has done a decent job for us, but has lost his place to Martin Dubravka recently and doesn’t look likely to get that number 1 jersey back any time soon.
This move really could suit both parties – although it wouldn’t surprise me if Rafa wants a replacement signed before he’ll sanction any deal, with Woodman likely to leave on loan and Elliot linked with a January exit too.
