Sky Sports reporter reveals what he’s been told on the NUFC takeover front – Good news?

Sky Sports’ Pete Graves has admitted that several ‘valued contacts’ have told him ‘a lot of very positive things’ about a potential takeover at Newcastle – telling fans to ‘watch this space’ despite admitting he is still cautious about news of a possible sale.

In all honesty, it’s hard to know what on earth is actually going on when we’re dealing with the unpredictable Mike Ashley, however this is a promising update from the north-east presenter from Sky especially when the clock is ticking to get a deal completed in time to have any sort of impact on the January window.

Here’s what Pete had to say on Twitter over the weekend when a Newcastle fan asked if there was any news on the takeover front:

Kenyon has been described as the front runner (despite some claims that he’s short of Ashley’s asking price), but there’s also been news over the weekend that ex-Man City CEO Garry Cook is fronting an unnamed American group.

It’s best to remain sceptical given Ashley’s history, but the signs are fairly positive – and Saturday’s huge win over Huddersfield will have only helped matters from a potential buyer’s perspective.

  1. Ashley will not sell to the best deal for the club….It’s cash in his pockets he is interest in.

Watch these deals closely as we may end up in deeper ****…..

  2. Really, Olly !?! You should know better than to listen to the cash-for-comments rubbish that Ashley gets his Sky Sports Muppets to dribble out. Its stage smoke – there’s no fire, no sale, and definitely no fire sale – Ashley won’t let his cash cow go. 👿
But, he is worried that if he doesn’t blow smoke up everyone’s posterior (to calm or confuse, he won’t mind which), then too many more public complaints may make him the subject of a Parliamentary Enquiry into his ‘fitness’ to run a Premier League Football Club (and if the investigation is deep enough, it may find a few of the skeletons that could jeopardise his financial and even physical liberty). 😕
He is a high octane gambler, hoping that making the ‘noises’ of a PL Club owner and doing things like ‘Saving the High Street’ will not only make him more rich and powerful, but make him too valuable, for the all to easily bought politicians, to ‘go after’ him. It’s one gamble I really do hope he loses. 😉
