Sky Sports reporter reveals what he's been told on the NUFC takeover front - Good news?

by Olly Hawkins ·

Sky Sports' Pete Graves has admitted that several 'valued contacts' have told him 'a lot of very positive things' about a potential takeover at Newcastle - telling fans to 'watch this space' despite admitting he is still cautious about news of a possible sale.

In all honesty, it's hard to know what on earth is actually going on when we're dealing with the unpredictable Mike Ashley, however this is a promising update from the north-east presenter from Sky - especially when the clock is ticking to get a deal completed in time to have any sort of impact on the January window.

Here's what Pete had to say on Twitter over the weekend when a Newcastle fan asked if there was any news on the takeover front:

Kenyon has been described as the front runner (despite some claims that he's short of Ashley's asking price), but there's also been news over the weekend that ex-Man City CEO Garry Cook is fronting an unnamed American group.

It's best to remain sceptical given Ashley's history, but the signs are fairly positive - and Saturday's huge win over Huddersfield will have only helped matters from a potential buyer's perspective.
