According to Scouts In Attendance, a Newcasttle official watched Olympiakos midfielder Mady Camara in their Europa League clash with AC Milan last week – with teammates Leonardo Koutris and Pape Cisse also catching our eye.
This is not the first time it’s been reported that we’ve been to watch Camara, and it would be no surprise if Rafa was looking to add to his defensive midfield options – with Mo Diame not getting any younger and want-away midfielder Isaac Hayden looking out of sorts ever since his transfer request over the summer.
As far as the other two players mentioned are concerned, Koutris is a Greek international left-back who was actually linked with a move to Tyneside just last weekend, while Papre Cisse ( a 6ft 6′ senegalese international) is a new name as far as transfer links go – however I don’t see why we’d need another centre-back right now?
It may be that scouts have been heading to Olympiakos to watch Camara, but Koutris and Cisse have impressed while we’ve done so.
Koutris could be a left-back option and Cisse may be one we’re keeping an eye on (we all know how much Rafa loves a good centre-back!), but it’s Camara we appear to have now watched on several occasions this season, so he could be one to watch in January.
