NUFC target set to sign for Wolves – £18m fee agreed with £120,000 p/w contract – Report

Just weeks on from claims that Rafa was planning another attempt to sign Tammy Abraham, the Sun claim the Chelsea striker looks set to join Wolves – with them prepared to pay £18m and offer the 20-year-old a staggering £120,000 per week.

The money in football has gone mad – with this coming just a few days on from Liverpool somehow receiving £19m for unproven talent Dominic Solanke – but this just emphasises how far back we’ve fallen in terms of investment.

Some may think this is a barmy deal and one they’re glad we’ve ‘missed out’ on given Abraham rejected us last summer and hardly set the league alight during the subsequent loan spell with Swansea, but the money our competitors are now willing to spend really does dwarf us under Ashley.

This would not only earn Abraham over £6m a year, but put him on money that would make him earn almost double our highest paid player in Jonjo Shelvey – who’s believed to be on around £60,000 per week.

It’s not justifiable and it sounds a little morbid to be suggesting our lot aren’t on much given these weekly salaries are often more than double what most folk earn in an entire year, but it’s no surprise we’ve stopped signing big names when you look at what other Premier League sides are willing to spend in comparison.

  1. Would be shocking if true but we’re getting him on loan and paying his current wages of £55,000

  2. Well I ail to see how this can be true as he has already played for Chelsea and Villa this season and can not play for a third team as was the case with Ben Arfa
