NUFC fan makes huge claim during BBC Radio 5 Live rant – Does anyone feel the same way?

A frustrated Newcastle fan has admitted during a call on BBC 5 Live that he wants Rafa to resign and for the club to be relegated this season – feeling this would be the financial disaster Mike Ashley deserves.

Relegation would be devastating for the club and us fans, but it would hit Ashley hard. He’d lose his biggest asset in Rafa, season ticket sales would plummet, Premier League cash would be no more and the value of ‘his’ club would plummet.

Here’s what this NUFC fan had to say during his time on BBC Radio 5 Live, urging Rafa to resign and leave Ashley to suffer – with him even claiming he wants us to go down this year!

I can see what this fan means to a certain extent , but Newcastle United will be still here long after Mike Ashley, and under no circumstances would I want my club to be relegated – no matter how much I dislike Mike Ashley.

Go down a third time and I can’t see us coming back any time soon, with relegation this year meaning the end of Rafa and the final straw for so many fed up fans.

The general reaction to this fan’s comments is that of disagreement , but also SOME understanding of what he is saying – which says a lot about how dejected our supporters have become this season.

Personally, I just dread the thought of us being relegated again – even if the devastating effects that come with it could leave Ashley in a real mess.

  1. It took the Macums going down to league 1 to get rid of their owner who actually spent money and if that’s what it’s going to take to get rid of our beloved parasite I’d take it the only difference being once cashly was gone we’d be smashing attendance records all the way back to the premiership

  2. Despite all this fakeover talk I still believe it will take a relegation to finally rid us of Mike Ashley. What kind of a businessman as he calls himself would let an investment worth 300million at such a risk of going down and losing half it’s value, it’s world class manager any decent players, it’s fanbase. It’s just laughable how idiots like Ferdinand could defend Ashley’s running of the club.

  3. I am all for us to be relegated. I support NUFC and not the Prem. if we go down I am fine with that. The thought of Ashley losing an absolute fortune not to mention some huge negative press for him and his dodgy brand would be great.
Let’s not forget just how nasty a bloke he really is and just how far he will and does go to do things his way.
He bought HoF to save it he says and make it “the Harrods of the high street”… and yet he is just next month shutting down HoF of Norwich despite it being the forth most profitable in the UK making 2million profit this last year alone… the reason for this closure? He is in a spat with INTU over landlord reductions for rent. They would not let him have the terms he wanted so he just said “sod it, i’ll Just close it down”. And that’s exactly what he is doing too. So for me… I would think we will only get rid of this man one way… if he is losing his fortune on us … until we are relegated… and stay relegated, that man will never leave.

  4. I’n not really sure why people think that relegation would bother Ashley, with the amount of free press/advertising he gets he’d just bring in a chump manager and fling them just enough to get out of the championship for the third time. It’s rinse and repeat as it has been for the past 10 years, the fans won’t stop going, they’ll moan a little and then just keep turning up so they can have their day out every week. Face it, nothing short of a miracle will make NUFC worth supporting again any time soon.

  5. Wrong I have just this last week handed in my cancellation letter. And I’m sure I won’t be the only one this time round. The FCB has finally broken me. Up yours fat man.
And for what it’s wirth the fan on 5 live is spot on with his relegation comment.

  6. I really enjoyed both our seasons in the championship. Took three or four games for the new championship players to gel but after that it was mostly good times. I don’t want another relegation but I’d take it if it meant getting rid of Ashley. Unfortunately with the right investment it should always be possible to get straight back up (except if you are Aston Villa who spent more than us) so Ashley wouldn’t have to wait so long. Rio and Keys really p1ssed me off today, luckily they seem to have fooled nobody with their sh1te.

  10. I’m all for relegation as well what’s the point in barely surviving year after year , the only trouble is our club is an advertising board for his cheap tat and if we go down we will be on sky just as much as we are now but sky might be reluctant to show so many of our matches if the stadium is empty and there is no atmosphere. That is the only way I see us getting rid of this parasite.

  11. Penfold said it himself with the contracts our players have relegation nearly finished the club last time. Ashley won’t bankroll it again he’ll lose everything this time and it couldn’t happen to a better man than him. He might be only to happy to sell to Amanda Staveley or Peter Kenyon then.

  12. I’m sure most of us would take relegation if it got rid of Ashley – except I don’t see any evidence it would. We’ve been relegated twice under him and were still in the same boat.

  13. Newcastle United IS a Championship club whether we like it or not…..
The owner has run NUFC the same way he runs his other businesses with minimal investment and financial outlay.
We may be Premier League fans, City and Manager but the club is not…..
What Mr Ashley needs to realise, and here is his problem, he is trying to get top premier league money for a Championship club which is unlikely to attract serious buyers who rightly see the club for what it is, therefore we will only get another Mike Ashley.
Would you spend £300m on NUFC??? Not a chance in hell!
