Current NUFC player named in top 100 ‘Best Bargains in PL History’ – I didn’t expect this..

Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez has been named in FourFourTwo’s list of the 100 ‘Best Bargains in Premier League History’ – with the Spaniard coming in at 92nd following his £1.5m move from Tenerife 2014.

This may come as a surprise to many, and seems hard to believe when you watch him on his frustratingly poor off days, but he’s actually been a very good servant for the club when you consider how much we’ve got out of him for the price paid.

The Spaniard has 37 goals and 16 assists in 177 games for the club which is by no means amazing, but it’s a decent return for the fee paid – with him being our top scorer last season.

Here’s what FourFourTWO have said about him, with him beating the likes of Xerdhan Shaqiri and Alex Song on their top 100 list:

£1.5m is absolute pennies nowadays, and it would be interesting to see how much we would get for him if we sold him now.

He often comes under fire from fans and can be very frustrating at times, but he appears to like the club and his effort is nearly always there, with him staying loyal to the club in recent years when other clubs were sniffing about for moves away.

Do you think he’s been a huge bargain for the club at £1.5m?
