Exclusive claims NUFC are watching ex-Liverpool talent after impressing Rafa in FA Cup clash

According to the Sun, Newcastle are tracking 21-year-old Blackburn midfielder Lewis Travis – with the former Liverpool graduate catching Benitez’s eye in our recent FA Cup tie at St James’ Park.

Travis played in both of our recent games with Blackburn, and it seems Benitez liked what he saw from the man who was just starting out in Liverpool’s Academy when the Spaniard was in charge at Anfield.

He was man of the match in the first FA Cup game against Blackburn at St James’ Park, and the Sun claim we’re now one of six Premier League clubs taking a look at him.

The youngster can operate as a right-back or central midfielder and has made 8 Championship appearances for Rovers after recently breaking into the first team.

With Isaac Hayden’s much needed move away only set to be sanctioned if we sign a replacement, it makes you wonder if someone like Travis could be lined up to become our fourth choice option in midfield – however the youngster has only played a handful of game for Blackburn, so could be seen as a player to initially go into our U-23 set up.
