Mike Ashley finally set to buy in the January window – but he’s not spending a penny on NUFC

According to Sky news, Mike Ashley is now in talks to buy struggling music and entertainment chain HMV – with him clearly more intent on saving them from administration than us from relegation.

You couldn’t make it up. We’re bottom of his priority list and simply a means to free advertising – despite the fact we’re set to lose Rafa and at serious risk of going down..again!

Just days after claims that he could be set to ‘accept defeat’ in his ‘attempt’ to sell the club, this news is bound to irritate Newcastle fans even more.

With us hovering above the relegation zone and in need of investment to guarantee our status in the league, you’d expect even Ashley to make a signing or two – but it seems HMV is the only deal he currently has his eye on.

He claims he hasn’t got the money to back Benitez and compete in the transfer market, but he’s already bought House of Fraser and Evans Cycles over the last six months – and struggling store HMV are next on his list.

This is further proof of just how little care he has for this club. He ignores the big issues, fails to invest and hopes to just ‘get by’ on the cheap – yet he’s always happy to spend on other ventures that aren’t doing well.

People wonder why us fans are fed up. We await a defence of him from Richard Keys, Rio Ferdinand and co..
