Ian Wright destroys Mike Ashley after NUFC fan reveals what he’s now been forced to do

Ian Wright has slated Mike Ashley on Twitter when responding to a frustrated Newcastle fan who has decided to cancel his 27-year-old season ticket – saying the only new signing he’s likely to announce is HMV.

The Ashley era is rotten to the core and it seems several Newcastle fans have now had enough – even fans like Paul (see below) who has barely missed a game at St James’ Park over the past 30 years.

Here’s how Match of the Day pundit Ian Wight responded after hearing about this fan’s decision to call it a day until Ashley is no more:

Although there’s news today that we may have finally woken up on the transfer front, it’s only loan bids that are going in – meaning House of Fraser will remain Ashley’s biggest signing for far this season.

Paul hits the nail on the head – football really isn’t the primary purpose of the club anymore. We are seen as a business to Mike Ashley and a money making machine that promotes his own brand. nothing more.

Wright is one of few pundits who really does get it, with Ashley seeming more worried about saving doomed high street stores than the state of his current ‘business’.

A loan move for Gelson Martins is said to be in the offing according to reports today, but I honestly feel there’s more chance of Ashley buying Patisserie Valerie ans saving them following administration than signing an Atletico Madrid winger!

  4. Football isn’t the primary purpose of any football club any more.

The FIFA Financial Fair Play rules mean EVERY club is now a business first, football team second.
