Siem De Jong beats Steven Taylor in bizarre ex-Mag battle – but it ends in disaster – Watch here

18-months on from his Newcastle United exit, Siem De Jong is now scoring goals in the Australian League – but the latest clip of the Dutch number 10 probably sums up his career better than anyone ever could.

He notched his 4th goal of the season in Sydney FC’s 1-0 win over Wellington Phoenix today – a game that saw him come up against ex-Mag Steven Taylor – but the Dutchman got a nasty injury just as he put the ball into the back of the net:

This 15 second clip of De Jong perhaps sums him up better than anyone ever could. He gets into the right position at the right time and fires home, but he gets injured in the process.

In his defence, this was a late challenge and an injury he could do little about, but he now looks set for another long spell on the sidelines as a result – with the Sydney boss confirming De Jong ‘heard a crack’ in his leg as he was fouled.

He’s a clever player and always seemed like a top professional during his time on Tyneside, but Siem really hasn’t had much luck since he left Ajax back in 2014.
