You will be relieved to hear that the club are now set to sign Lazio’s Jordan Lukaku instead of Monaco left-back Antonio Barreca – with Ligue 1 expert David Crossan being far from complimentary about the Italian.
It was confirmed earlier in the week that we’d submitted a loan bid to sign Barreca, but Lukaku’s seemingly imminent move suggests we’ve now withdrawn our interest in the Monaco man – and it may be just as well.
Here’s what BT Sport pundit David Crossan has had to say about Barreca – claiming he has done very little to impress at Monaco, stating he’s even struggled more than Manquillo did in France!
The last line says it all, with it appearing as though Thierry Henry preferred to play players out of position or youth players in favour of Barreca.
Obviously this is just the opinion of one Ligue 1 pundit, but it does sound like he’s done very little to impress in France if Monaco are happy to let him go just months after signing him.
This could’ve been a real bullet dodged by the sounds of things – especially if potential new left-back Lukaku is a hit.
