Newcastle loanee Dan Barlaser has caught the eye during Accrington Stanley’s FA Cup clash with Derby today – with many fans taking to Twitter to say just how impressed they were by the midfielder’s performance.
The local lad was praised for his display, with many believing he was the best player on the pitch before he was sent off with half an hour to go for a second bookable offence.
Here’s what’s been said about the 22-year-old on Twitter following his impressive display – with both NUFC fans and neutrals liking what they saw:
“Dan Barlaser’s been very good so far for Accrington Stanley”
“That is so harsh on Daniel Barlaser. Nearly scores for #asfc and is sent off 30 secs later. He’s been their stand out all afternoon too, looks a top player.”
“#NUFC youngster DanBarlaser having an absolute blinder for Accrington Stanley.. but has just been sent off for 2 yellows”
“Shame for Danbarlaser. He’s had a cracking game but that early yellow has been costly. #accrington”
“@barlaser_97 looking tidy in the Accrington vs derby game. Very accomplished”
“Just about to say I’ve been really impressed by Barlaser, looks a tidy player, decent passing.. then he gets sent off”
“Quick Frank (Lampard)… nip in the home dressing room and sign that Barlaser lad…we need someone who can get stuck in”
“Feel sorry for that barlaser bloke looks a class above league 1. Hope we can get him one day”
It gets better. Even a Mackem (who clearly doesn’t know that he’s on loan at Accrington from Newcastle) has urged Sunderland to sign him up after liking what he saw from the midfielder!
On a serious note, hats off to Barlaser for an impressive display in front of the TV cameras today.
As the below clips show, you can see just how devastated he was to be sent off (with his side going on to concede and lose the game after his red), however he should be proud of his performance in the first 60 minutes today.
