Benitez responds to claims NUFC will send Kenedy back to Chelsea & cut short his loan..

Rafa Benitez has confirmed that Kenedy will stay at the club until the end of the season – denying reports that the club could end his loan early and send him back to Chelsea.

We’re short on options so some may feel it would make little sense to let go of the out of sorts Brazilian, however his exit would have opened up another domestic loan slot – meaning we could’ve signed a Premier League player on a temporary deal over the next 4 days.

It seems that will NOT be happening, however.

Here’s a snippet from the Shields Gazette’s piece, stating that Rafa insisted that the winger WILL stay at the club until the end of the season despite claims he could return to Stamford Bridge:

There have been reports that out-of-form Kenedy, one of the club’s two permitted domestic loans, could be sent back to Chelsea this month.

Asked if Kenedy would definitely stay beyond the transfer window, Benitez said: “Yes.”

I really don’t know where it’s all gone wrong as far as Kenedy is concerned.

He was a player that played a key part in our rise from relegation contenders to 10th last season, showing energy, quality on the ball and flare in attack, but his performances this season have been consistently poor.

He’s proven he’s got skill and quality in his locker, but he looks unfit and woefully short on confidence – two things that will not work well in this Newcastle side that relies on players to dig in and give their all.

  1. He’s injured, you could see his last few games he is clearly carrying an injury, and as he is likely on a bonus to play he has been playing unfit.
Looks like Rafa has taken him out of the team until he can prove his fitness.

One thing we do know, if fit and motivated he is a top player….

  2. The player had a brain and a mouth. Why can’t he comment like other players who have have made little statements of encouragement or views on commitment etc
