We’ve all had a chance to calm ourselves down following Tuesday night’s magical win over Man City, but I still can’t get over just how good Sean Longstaff was.
On just his third Premier League appearance, he’s come in and looked completely unfazed against a £115m Man City midfield made up of De Bruyne, Fernandinho and David Silva.
Not only was he calm and composed in possession, almost always going forward yet rarely being wasteful, his work off the ball was second to none – with him getting stuck in, tracking well and rarely switching off as Silva and De Bruyne looked to drift into dangerous areas.
Pep admitted after the game that his City side ‘could not deal’ with our two holding midfielders, showing just what an incredible job both he and Hayden did.
Local lad Longstaff has since described it as ‘”One of the best nights of my life” – and I’m not surprised:
What a night for the lad and what a performance.
