NUFC have deadline day bid 'rejected' for Boubakary Soumare - Le10Sport
According to French outlet Le10Sport, Newcastle have had a bid rejected for 19-year-old Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumaré.
The 6ft 2' France U-20 international has made 10 Ligue 1 appearances for Lille this season, being a player who was linked with a move to Man City just las year.
News of our alleged offer makes you wonder if he was an option for us earlier today, with us attempting to sign a defensive midfielder who could allow an unsettled Isaac Hayden to leave.
As it turns out, a new midfielder has failed to arrive - with a deal for Andreas Samaris also breaking down, meaning the unsettled Isaac Hayden must now wait until the summer to secure a move away.
Back to Soumaré, here's a what GFFN have just shared in their live transfer blog, claiming we've had an offer rejected today:
"Le 10 Sport report that Premier League side Newcastle United have today had a proposal for 19-year-old midfielder Boubakary Soumaré rejected by Lille."
So, with less than 1 hour remaining of the January window, it looks like Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca will be our only two January signings - however one is a club record deal and Rafa's top target, with Benitez now having the attacking left-back and number 10 he's craved for so long now.
