Atlanta President Darren Eales has admitted that new Newcastle United attacker Miguel Almiron reminds him “so much” of Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
As first this seems like an odd comparison beater they play in different positions. Bale is much bigger than Almiron and much more of a winger opposed to a number 10, however he seems to be basing on his speed and ability to run with the ball.
Here’s what Eales has said about Almiron following his big money move to St James’ Park:
““As a player he is fantastic. He is just so
dynamic, his pace with the ball, I’ve always likened him to players I’ve been involved with at different clubs and the way he appears to be faster over the ground with the ball than without it, reminds me so much of Gareth Bale,”
“He is just electric, he has been a great player for Atlanta and I can remember him playing in the All-Star game against Real Madrid in 2018, he was by far the best player as far as the All-Star team were concerned. You could see that, when he played against better players, he got even better.”
Whilst these quotes seem quite exciting if you are a Newcastle fan, I would approach the comments with caution.
It’s questionable how much knowledge the owner has of football and he may just be bigging the player up to be better than he actually is given he came from his club and left as the most expensive player to be sold from the MLS.
Whichever way you look at it I can’t wait to see our new record signing in action, let’s hope he has Gareth Bales ability and not injury record.
