Carragher reveals why he ‘liked what he saw’ from Almiron – & ex-NUFC star was impressed too..

Sky pundit Jamie Carragher has praised Miguel Almiron’s ‘willingness and energy’ during his impressive late cameo at Wolves – believing he looked ‘lively’ and ‘sharp’.

I was expecting him to come on if we were 1-0 down and chasing the game, but it was both surprising and positive to see how well he fitted into our system late on.

Here’s what the former Liverpool legend had to say about Almiron following last night’s game:

“I liked what I saw.

“His willingness and energy were good. It’s not easy to come on as a substitute when you’re winning the game.

“He looked lively, he looked sharp.”

As he says, it wasn’t the easiest of circumstances for him to make his Premier League debut, with us facing a backs against the walls task to keep Wolves at bay in the final 20 minutes, however he didn’t shirk any of his responsibilities; both on and off the ball.

Ex-NUFC striker Patrick Kluivert – who was also in the studio for Sky last night – was also left impressed. Here’s what he had to say about the Paraguayan:

“He’s a lively boy.

“Very quick and I think he gave a good impression for the minutes he played.”

We won’t get too carried away, but as Kluivert says it was a good first impression made by Miguel – a player who looked willing and fearless in all of his offensive and defensive work.

Let’s hope he can have a good week away in Spain and get himself ready to start against Huddersfield next weekend.
