After diving to win a late penalty in West Brom’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, NUFC loanee Dwight Gayle has been charged by the FA for ‘Successful Deception of a Match Official’
With the dive giving the Baggies an 89th minute spot kick – which was converted by Jay Rodriguez to earn them a precious point – Gayle now look set to face a two-game ban if he accepts the charge.
Here’s the incident:
This is the FIFTH penalty Gayle has won so far this season for West Brom, but there’s no way of defending him here.
It’s a pretty blatant dive, it’s cheating and it’s cost Forest two points and earned West Brom a point as a result.
This came on the same night fellow NUFC loanee Jacob Murphy scored his first goal for the Baggies, but losing Gayle for two games could be a real blow for them – with him bagging an impressive 16 goals and 6 assists in 25 Championship appearances so far this season.
How ironic it was against Forest.
