Joey Barton speaks out after accusations of ‘assault’ & leaving Barnsley boss with ‘bloody’ face

Ex-Mag and current Fleetwood boss Joey Baton has ’emphatically’ denied allegations that he assaulted Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel following his sides 4-2 defeat at Oakwell last weekend.

Not only did Barnsley lodge an official complaint with the EFL and the FA, their current player Cauley Woodrow claimed Barton left his manager with ‘blood pouring from his face’ following an altercation in the tunnel after the game.

Barton is pleading innocent however and has posted the following on his Twitter page today:

“With regards to the alleged incident on Saturday following our game against Barnsley, I emphatically deny all the allegations made.

“Given this matter has not been formally closed, it would be inappropriate for me to make any further comment.”

As the footage above shows, Barton was stopped by Police as he tried to leave Oakwell last weekend, with South Yorkshire Police investigating the incident after Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel was left with ‘facial injuries and needing emergency dental treatment’ according to reports.

Innocent until proven guilty, but this isn’t looking great for a somewhat notorious Joey Barton..

  1. Sensationalism at it best – or should that be worst?

I love the tweet about Barton trying to escape police, when he was in fact just leaving the car park.
