Police raids confirmed as NUFC’s £14m transfer is investigated for suspected ‘criminal association’

According to reports in Belgium, Aleksandar Mitrovic’s £14m move to Newcastle is now ‘under investigation’, with suspected money laundering and criminal association leading to police raids at Anderlecht today

This is just one of many transfers said to be under scrutiny, seeing police raiding Anderlecht’s offices as a result, however Belgian outlet DH claims Mitrovic’s transfer to Newcastle is ‘at the heart’ of the investigation.

The investigation is said to centre around transfers that happened between 2013 and 2015, so it’s worth noting that Chancel Mbemba also made a move from Anderlecht to Newcastle in the same summer as Aleksandar Mitrovic.

It’s reported that several documents have been seized by the police, while Super agent Pini Zahavi – the man who helped bring Aleksandar Mitrovic to Tyneside – has denied any wrongdoing.

Mitrovic is now at Fulham following a £22m move away from St James’ Park last summer, with him scoring his 11th goal of the season in their win at Bournemouth on Saturday.

One to keep an eye on over the coming days!
